The last budget of the 20th century spends more than $6.6 Billion, including almost $2.3 Billion from the State's General Fund. Alaska spends over $10,000 per capita, more than twice the national average.
The budget includes essential programs and unnecessary pork barrel spending - which is which? Let us know!!! Rick Halford and Lyda Green are offering a $1,000 reward to the Alaskan who submits the WORST expenditure in the millenium state budget.
Most appropriate spending decisions are thoroughly discussed, but what about the others? With thousands of state employees and hundreds of thousands receiving state funds, no legislator can find all the fat.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Criteria for consideration include: appropriateness of spending, cost per capita, level of public review, abuse of political power and conflicts of interest
